Our client is looking for an experienced Chef Manager to join their team in Reading. The successful candidate will have food preparation and managerial experience. This is an exciting opportunity to join a global leading company.

The role:

As the Chef Manager you will be expected to manage the catering operation on behalf of the client and customers.

To ensure the catering services are delivered at the required times to the Company’s standards, within agreed specification and to the agreed performance, qualitative and financial targets

To take responsibility for food production, to include craft team management / ordering commodities / assisting with stock takes / updating statistics and completion of Sodexo Compliance management systems

To lead a high performing team of chefs and food service assistants, ensuring that all areas of the operation are working effectively across a five-day operation

To provide strategy and innovation in line with commercial food and menu planning that improve the Company’s reputation for food quality and enhances client and customer experience.

Responsible for driving compliance of Health, Safety, Food Hygiene and COSHH regulations

Drive sales through centrally driven menu plans and promotions and ensure compliance through preferred suppliers within the agreed specification and to the agreed performance, qualitative and financial targets.

Provide high quality service to customers and client in line with a food service offer that is applicable to sector and client

Person Specification:


Proven craft skills background and experience in managing and leading chefs and catering team

City & Guilds 706/1, 2 or NVQ Level 3 or similar qualification
Food Hygiene Certificate

Industry acumen and knowledge of external catering developments & innovation

Strong financial understanding and demonstrable budgeting management
Experienced in adhering to and driving company initiative

It is essential that you have a pro-active attitude and can be flexible in relation to duties. The job also requires someone who can demonstrate that they have strong organisational and planning skills and have the ability to priorities and manage their time effectively

The candidate must be able to work effectively without close supervision and must possess good organisational skills.

The ability to communicate clearly is seen as essential

Experience working in a standards /compliance environment

IT & systems literate, use of IT systems to provide/monitor data within the
Quality Assurance and other management reporting systems

IOSH managing safely qualification
CIEH Level 3 qualification
Thorough knowledge and understanding of E-prophit and DRIVE, including Clarity and EPOS
