Trainee Research Analyst - Initially 6 month internship to become long term.
 
Our client is based outside Newbury in a rural setting so you must be a car driver.
Full time position, 37.5 hours per week with a salary of between £15,000-£20,000.
Although our client is based in Newbury they are open to some remote working and office based, so the successful candidate may either work in the office (when/if open) or from home and needs to be able to work from home and be disciplined in doing so.
Although this is a 6-month internship, we are very much looking at a long-term position- the 6 months will allow all parties to familiarise with one another and the role. If mutually agreeing on proceeding with a long term position the salary may be reviewed accordingly.

Working within the Customer insights department you would gain a broad understanding of the business.  You will learn how to conduct professional local and international project management and offer support in client interactions. Typically, a position for bachelor/master graduates but our client will consider entry level graduates who are competent, quick learners and who have the ability to learn and grow.
 
Key activities
Research Design & Proposal Development.
Support in collecting information for proposal writing, support in adapting/preparing proposal documents.
Conduct secondary research.
Assist in conducting primary research projects.
Learn how to develop survey designs/analysis designs/project reports, adapt existing questionnaires/topic guides or creates drafts/standard questionnaires/topic guides.

Day to Day tasks
Initially will involve basic tasks such as desk research- googling for information, emailing colleagues or preparing simple files.
Over time training will be provided and the candidate will be expected to undertake other tasks after shadowing/training is undertaken
Interviewing may be face to face (although unlikely due to Covid) and candidate eventually will be expected to be prepared to travel as far as Scotland/Cornwall/East Anglia to conduct interviews.
Otherwise, interviews are conducted via telephone/zoom again a degree of flexibility is needed as respondents- farmers, vets, pet owners, nutritionists, experts may desire interviews prior to 9am or after 5pm
Agricultural knowledge is not a must, but candidates should be open to understanding people and their needs and an interest in agriculture- would be beneficial. By agriculture we mean farming and animal health rather than the ‘environment’

Support
Equipment will be provided in terms of a laptop.
Training would be given throughout the 6 months internship across the areas of the UK customer insight team.
Any travel expenses would be reimbursed.

Project Execution
Supporting local and international project co-ordination- that means coordination with internal service, units (DP, colleagues from other countries) as well as agencies.
Translation and programming checks, filtering, continuous field work coordination, prepare instructions for DP and agencies.
Supports in defining report structure.
Quality checks of data.
Understands basic interviewing principles and practices.
Learns how to conduct simple interviewing on non-sensitive issues.
Prepared to travel and conduct face to face interviews in the UK.
 
Analysis & Reporting:
Learns how to populate reports- creates graphic presentation of data, creates and modifies excel spreadsheets.
Supports in translating client briefings into analysis design/data cuts.
Under supervision looks for trends in data and preparing graphic reports with solid commentary and analytical insights and conducts basic analysis.
 
Technical skills required
Basic knowledge of respective product.
Basic project management skills.
Advanced English skills.
Advanced in MS Office.
Knowledge in statistics.
Advanced analytical skills.
Basic presentation and communication skills.
Knowledge of relevant tools.
Clean driving license.
 
Typical Education and Work Experience required
Typically, a position for bachelor/master graduates.
Agricultural knowledge, is of benefit, t but not essential.
Background in sociology or psychology may also be beneficial.
